Rome's famous Spanish Steps crowded with tourists

The University of Arkansas Rome Center is housed in the historic Palazzo Taverna, just minutes from the Vatican, Piazza Navona, and the Pantheon- some of the most important architectural and cultural sites in the Western World. Students live close to the school, tracing the paths of ancient Romans and centuries of Christian pilgrims as they make their way to classes each day.

Coursework at the Rome Center engages the city as a classroom- with regular visits to local museums and landmarks complementing lectures and studio work. Every student studying in Rome also has the opportunity to visit Florence, the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, as well as magnificent Imperial and Renaissance villas closer to the city.

Founded as a center for architectural studies in 1989, the Rome Center now serves the full University of Arkansas community, offering a varied curriculum in U of A core classes, Italian culture, language, art, and history.
